Greetings!
There is a big pumpkin field across the street from my house and they are already out there harvesting bright orange pumpkins. What could be more delicious on a crisp Autumn evening than pumpkin pie with plenty of ginger? You might want to skip the cow’s milk when you make it and use a healthier milk replacement like almond or hemp milk – just be sure it doesn’t have carageenan. It turns out that ginger is much more than a delicious spice to flavor our Fall cuisine. It is also a potent cancer fighter and immune booster!
Speaking of cancer, there is big news about beef and dairy products in connection with breast cancer rates. Another strike against the cattle industry, which is already responsible for huge water consumption and CO2 emissions. Is that cheese burger really worth the risk?
Autumn is the best time for sheet composting in your garden. You will find step-by-step directions below – no need to add cow manure, which is another way you can avoid supporting the cattle industry. It is also the time when people tend to get more colds and flu bugs. Ginger can help boost your immunity as well as fight cancer. Multiple studies are now showing that inoculated children get sick 2 to 5 times as often as unvaccinated children! So don’t rely on vaccines to keep your kids healthy. Stock up on ginger, echinacia, elderberry syrup, and other potent immune boosters that work in harmony with nature.
I found another good article on golden milk to add to the information from last month. And that wraps it up for this time. Here’s wishing you a joyful Autumn and Happy Halloween, or Samhain if you prefer.
To your health and happiness!

Ginger – New Hero in the Battle Against Cancer
What if ginger beats all standard cancer treatments hands down? According to some new research, it looks like it does. The great thing about ginger is that you can even include it in your daily diet as a cancer preventative, and it tastes wonderful!
From NaturalMentor.com – Recent research has revealed that ginger just might provide the “holy grail” of cancer treatment—one of the compounds it contains, called 6-shogaol, is capable of targeting cancer cells and cancer stem cells, without harming any of the body’s healthy cells.
This “intelligent” cell targeting is known as selective cytotoxicity, and it’s an ability that is severely lacking in chemotherapy drugs. Even 10,000 times the normal dose of Taxol (a leading chemo drug) can’t live up to the CSC-fighting ability of this incredible ginger compound—and needless to say, this massive chemo dose wreaks havoc on everything healthy in its tracks.
Ginger, on the other hand, fights cancer on all levels, and improves the systemic health of the body in the process. It directly kills cancer cells, triggers a “cancer cell suicide” process called apoptosis, and profoundly interrupts the growth cycle of cancer colonies— all while combatting both inflammation and oxidative stress throughout the entire body, thus strengthening the body’s innate ability to join the fight.
Ginger has long been used in Chinese medicine for warming, improving digestion, nausea, and immunity, circulation, pain relief, and respiratory health. When we add fighting cancer to that list, it is a pretty impressive little root.

Beef & Dairy Breast Cancer Connection
Many studies have shown that a plant-based diet will lower your chances of getting breast cancer, but the reasons are not always clear. Here is one study that points to a big risk factor in beef and dairy products. More studies are needed, but the initial results are startling.
From Wellness.com – The study, which was recently done on biopsies of breast tissue from 239 women, revealed startling results. The tissues were tested for the DNA of bovine (cow) leukemia (BLV DNA). Of the 239 tissue samples, it was discovered that in biopsies from cancer free tissue, BLV was found in 29% of the samples, and in tissue with diagnosed breast cancer the incidence of the presence of BLV was 59%!
“Also, UC Berkeley researchers published a recent report that supports the findings and states that “the odds of having breast cancer if BLV were present was 3.1 times greater than if BLV was absent.” We found this to be alarming news and will be paying very close attention to the developing story.
It is unclear how the BLV is transferred to humans, but consumption of beef and dairy products is as close as most people ever get to cattle. Apparently, BLV can also be transferred to other animals. What are you feeding your dogs and cats? Personally, I don’t feed any beef-based foods to my dogs for environmental reasons, but this article offers another reason to avoid beef and dairy for pets as well as yourself.

Creating Healthy Topsoil with Sheet Composting
Are you ready to transform your lawn into a vegetable garden? Or do you have a weedy patch that you would love to convert to flowers? Here’s an easy way to get rid of weeds and start building healthy soil with sheet composting. This article gives you step-by-step instructions to start building your soil for easy-to-maintain permaculture gardens.
Our top soil is rapidly being destroyed by agribusiness practices. Soon, the healthy soil in our gardens and organic farms may be the only places left where we can grow food without massive doses of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Even if you don’t want to plant anything, it is helpful to compost all your vegetable scraps, because it will lower your carbon footprint.
From druidgarden.wordpress.com – Even if you grow nothing in your soil, sinking carbon and nutrients into the soil is a practice worth engaging in. One soil building technique favored by permaculturists is sheet mulching.
Sheet mulching allows us to recycle otherwise “waste” products (cardboard, newspaper, yard waste, grass clippings, wood chippings from tree work in the neighborhood, etc). It allows us to quickly build soil fertility (speeding up that 1000 year process to maybe 5 or 10 years!). Sheet mulching mimics the natural process of continual layering of organic matter on the top of the soil, and not doing much to disturb the lower soil horizons. And of course, sheet mulching rebuilds our soil, adding vital nutrients and organic matter.
Therefore, sheet mulching has a few benefits over other kinds of garden bed prep:
- It allows you to mimic nature and use a variety of plant matter and other “waste” ingredients
- It allows you to suppress weedy material or grass to have relatively weed-free beds
- It allows you to quickly build soil mass
- It does not disrupt the existing soil web of life, but adds to it
- It allows us to quickly sequester carbon
When I first studied gardening 40-some years ago, I spent a year as an apprentice in a bio-dynamic-French-Intensive garden where double digging, raised beds, close planting, and using lots of cow manure was taught as the best way to garden. I have to say that the yields were amazing and the produce was delicious, but it was super labor intensive. We had several people out there weeding, digging, watering and planting every day. The older I get, the less appealing it is to spend all day digging and weeding garden beds! I want to garden more like nature does it, so I’ve become fascinated with permaculture gardening.
One of the great things about permaculture is that the integrity of the soil is preserved, because we don’t dig or plow it up. We add compost on top of the soil, just as nature does, and allow the worms and soil bacteria to mix the nutrients into the soil. The advantages are many, including a lot less work, and increasing soil fertility year after year. The few weeds that do grow are easy to pull, because the soil is loose and friable. Permaculture also requires a lot less water, since so much mulch is added to the soil, which is a big advantage here in drought-plagued California. I also like that we don’t have to use animal manure, which supports the beef and dairy industry. If you want to increase the fertility of your soil, try adding worm castings. (It is easy and fun to raise your own worms.) If you don’t have enough weeds or grass clippings available for composting, you can buy a bale of straw (not hay or you will get weed seeds), or get chopped tree trimmings from deciduous trees (make sure they are not from walnuts) from your local tree trimming company.
Even though I’m just a beginner at permaculture, I can already see how much easier and more fun it is. Maybe the yields are not as high as the French Intensive method, but I would bet that the nutritional value is higher for the permaculture produce, because it is closer to the way plants grow in nature.
Vaccinated Children Have Up To 500% More Disease!
Independent studies around the world are showing the same results. Vaccinated children get sick a lot more often. Not surprising to me, since their immune systems are constantly stressed with new organisms they have to learn to fight.
Wouldn’t it make sense to save the vaccines, as well as antibiotics, for those occasions when there is a life-threatening danger involved? Wholesale vaccinations will one day be seen in the same light as wholesale antibiotic use, which is now responsible for the creation of “super bugs.” I dread to think what overuse of vaccines is creating.
From Family Health Freedom Network website – Suspicions have been confirmed for those wary of vaccinating their children. A recent large study corroborates other independent study surveys comparing unvaccinated children to vaccinated children. They all show that vaccinated children have two to five times more childhood diseases, illnesses, and allergies than unvaccinated children. Originally, the recent still ongoing study compared unvaccinated children against a German national health survey conducted by KiGGS involving over 17,000 children up to age 19.
When will we learn? We can’t keep feeding our kids junk food and letting them play with electronic gadgets all day, and expect to ward off diseases with inoculations. Nature just doesn’t work that way. Healthy kids are the result of healthy lifestyles. No amount of vaccinating will ever create health! Why isn’t that obvious to those who are pushing vaccines?
