Greetings,
I hope you are enjoying the last lingering days of warmth and sunshine as the year winds down. Or the first signs of Spring if you are on the other side of the planet.
Either way, welcome to October!
I’ve been a busy little bee this month. My latest hobby is playing with the Midjourney AI image bot. As an artist, I find the infinite potential for creating new images endlessly fascinating and richly rewarding.
This one of me with my wolf spirit ally is one of my favorites. It is always hit-or-miss with image bots, but with patience you can create some real gems.
Want to see your own face in a magical image?
Right now I’m only charging $50 to create a custom image of you in any style you choose. For example, here are a few more of me, so you can see some of the style the options (click on image to see details).
The sky is the limit, really. How do you want to see yourself?
Coming Up Soon
I just finished my Arthurian Magic Tarot Deck and now I need to learn how to get it published. That’s what October is all about in my oracle cards class. Here’s a sneak peak of a few of the cards I created (click on image to see details).
I’m hoping they will be available in time for the holiday season… just in case you want to give them as a gift. Stay tuned!
This month I found some interesting articles about foods that help you sleep, the promise of citrus pectin for fighting cancer, and the multiple uses for milk thistle. Scroll down to check them out.
That’s all all folks!

Good Foods for Sleep
What do tart cherries, walnuts, almonds, bananas and oats have in common? They can all help you sleep like a baby.
This info. about oats did surprise me the most, as they suggested. From theartofantiaging.com:
Oats may surprise you as one of the top foods to help with sleep. But they are yet another good source of melatonin and magnesium, like the previous foods on this list.
Even more surprising, oats have a good amount of tryptophan, the amino acid that may be forever associated with turkey. Tryptophan plays a role in the production of both melatonin and serotonin. It also helps your brain relax, which can induce drowsiness.
Unlike turkey, oats provide you with a good amount of fiber and are a healthy complex carbohydrate. There’s some evidence that eating carbs before bed promotes better sleep, too.
Bring on the oat burgers for dinner!
And there are several more foods that can help with sleep. Find out what the are here: https://theartofantiaging.com/best-foods-to-help-you-sleep-better/
A Gift of Citrus for Cancer
We hear about cancer dangers, treatments and preventions every day… or at least I do. Maybe you don’t follow health news quite as much as me. Anyway, I find this info. very promising.
It’s an all-natural cancer treatment without the nasty side effects of chemo, surgery and radiation.
From naturalhealth365.com:
Probably the most heartening finding of all is the discovery that modified citrus pectin can activate natural killer cells – specialized cells produced by the immune system that locate, identify, and eliminate cancers as soon as they form. In a laboratory study published in 2011 in BMC Complementary and Alternative Medicine, researchers reported that natural killer cells activated by MCP [modified citrus pectin] worked to induce cell death in leukemic cancer cells.
Further research suggests that MCP decreases the chances of skin cancer spreading to the lungs – by not letting cancer cells stick to normal, healthy tissue and blood vessels. By the same method of action, it prevents colon cancer from spreading to the liver.
I would certainly give it a try if I got a cancer diagnosis. How about you?

Wonders of Milk Thistle
Milk thistle has been used for over two millennia in traditional medicine for various ailments, particularly liver problems. In recent years, scientific studies have delved deeper into understanding the therapeutic benefits of this plant. Here are some reported advantages of milk thistle for different health issues:
1. Liver Health
Milk thistle’s primary active ingredient, silymarin, is a potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound that has been studied for its liver-protective qualities.
- Liver Detoxification: Silymarin aids in detoxifying the liver from harmful substances like alcohol and environmental toxins.
- Liver Disease Treatment: Several studies indicate milk thistle can help treat liver diseases like cirrhosis, jaundice, and hepatitis. It does this by preventing the depletion of glutathione, a key antioxidant in the liver that combats free radicals.
2. Bone Health
Milk thistle may contribute to bone health, which is crucial for both mobility and overall well-being.
- Bone Density: Some animal studies suggest that milk thistle might promote bone mineralization and could be potentially useful for osteoporosis prevention.
3. Brain Health
The brain, like any other organ, is prone to oxidative stress. Natural antioxidants, such as those found in milk thistle, offer potential neuroprotective benefits.
- Neuroprotection: Milk thistle has been studied for its potential in combating neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s. The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of silymarin could play a role in slowing the progression of these diseases.
4. Cancer Prevention
While more research is necessary, some studies have found promising results in the potential of milk thistle as an adjunct in cancer treatment.
- Anti-Cancer Properties: Some laboratory studies have demonstrated that milk thistle extracts can inhibit the growth of cancer cells in breast, cervical, and prostate cancers. However, more extensive human studies are needed to validate these findings.
5. Skin Health
Your skin is the largest organ and acts as the first line of defense against external threats. Milk thistle may be an ally in maintaining healthy skin.
- Anti-Aging: The antioxidant properties of milk thistle can help reduce the visible signs of aging by fighting free radicals that cause skin aging.
- Acne Reduction: There’s some evidence to suggest that by detoxifying the body and stabilizing blood sugar levels, milk thistle can potentially help reduce acne breakouts.
Whether you’re focused on liver health, bone fortification, or seeking a natural boost for your skin, this plant may offer lots of benefits. If in doubt, consult with a holistic healthcare professional before incorporating milk thistle into your routine.
