Earth News
Earth has a message for us.
Can you hear it?
Grasshopper,
your fairy song
And my poem
alike belong
To the dark
and silent Earth
From which
all poetry has birth;
All we say
and all we sing
Is but as
the murmuring
Of that drowsy
heart of hers
When from her
deep dream she stirs:
If we sorrow,
or rejoice,
You and I are
but her voice.

Message from Bernadette Wulf
Greetings!
Welcome to all our new subscribers from the Guardian Gateway Telesummit! It is great to have you join us.
I was crazy busy last month, but very productive. I'm hoping March is
more mellow - and still just as productive. I'm glad I got a bit of a
head start on this newsletter, with some fascinating articles to share,
because I'm running up against my self-imposed deadline of the first of
the month! I just love finding things I didn't know about before, and
sharing things I did know about. What could be more fun?
I would have never guessed that the psyllium husks so many people force
down their throats everyday have not been shown to relieve
constipation! That is one disgusting daily ritual we can all avoid now.
To find out what does work, read on.
This newsletter seems to be all about Spring Cleaning and getting
things back into balance. The next article is about clearing your
lymphatic system, which is probably just as important as relieving
constipation.
And then we have an article on one of my personal favorite herbs. This
is the herb for our 21st century life style. How do you spell relief
from all our modern hormone imbalances? Ashwaganda!
Last but not least, we have an unusual sort of healing therapy - horse
whispering! You've got to try it to know how healing it is. It can be
almost addictive.
To
Your Health!

Healing Constipation Naturally
Is
constipation ruining your day? The older you get, the more likely it is
that your answer will be yes, and that can lead to toxic liver,
kidneys, heart, and even brain! So how can we counteract this
increasingly sluggish trend? Unfortunately, it looks like we have been
led astray with advice that doesn't measure up to the facts. A recent
Body Ecology blog states that, "According to researchers, several
[commonly recommended] treatments do not heal constipation." These are:
* Osmotic agents (like polyethylene glycol and lactulose), which
increase the secretion of water in the colon. This can cause bloating,
gas, and diarrhea.
* Soluble fibers like psyllium husk; its use is not backed up by any strong evidence for its effectiveness.
* Herbal laxatives, like senna and cascara, because they become less effective over time and can be addictive.
* Increased fluid intake and exercise. However, researchers suggest that they 'should be undertaken for other health benefits.'
So what the heck does work?
Here are the three top recommendations from the Body Ecology blog:
"Constipation needs to be addressed in both the stomach and the colon."
Tip 1: REBUILD your stomach acid.
Digestive force is naturally lost with age; in order to properly digest
and eliminate, you need plenty of stomach acid and digestive enzymes
and a balanced inner ecosystem. You can naturally support digestive
enzyme levels with Assist Dairy & Protein to boost stomach acid.
Tip 2: SUPPORT your inner ecosystem.
Improving gut health with beneficial bacteria can relieve constipation
and remove toxins from the body, including heavy metals. Contribute to
a thriving inner ecosystem by eating cultured vegetables and drinking
InnergyBiotic daily.
Tip 3: STIMULATE with acupressure.
You can use natural therapies like massage and acupressure to address
constipation in the comfort of your own home. The acupuncture point
Stomach-25 will ease digestion with few adverse reactions.
I will also add one tip of my own. Ayurvedic Triphala is an excellent
colon cleanser and mild laxative that has no addictive effect, so it
can be used long term. In fact, it contributes to gut healing and has
many other health benefits which you can learn about through a quick
Internet search. Here is just one source of information from my
favorite brand of Triphala - http://www.planetaryherbals.com/products/GP1554/
Constipation is not only uncomfortable, it is downright dangerous and
can lead to serious health issues. Don't put it off another day. Give
your gut the help it needs to keep that colon rolling.

Boost Your Lymphatic System for Great Health
If
you are suffering from injuries, excess weight or cellulite, or pain
disorders like arthritis, bursitis, headaches or others, a sluggish
lymphatic system may be playing a role. Here are 11 ways you can
get your lymph flowing smoothly.
1. Breathe deeply.
2. Get moving.
3. Drink plenty of water.
4. Forget the soda, trash the neon-colored sports drinks, and
drop the fruit “juices” that are more sugar than
fruit.
5. Eat more raw fruit on an empty stomach.
6. Eat plenty of green vegetables to get adequate chlorophyll to help purify your blood and lymph.
7. Eat raw, unsalted nuts and seeds to power up your lymph with adequate fatty acids.
8. Add a few lymph-boosting herbal teas to your day, such as
astragalus, echinacea, goldenseal, pokeroot or wild indigo root tea.
9. Dry skin brush before showering.
10. Alternate hot and cold showers for several minutes.
11. Get a gentle massage.
To get the scoop on why these tips work, read the entire Care2 article, or just try them and see how much better you feel. Jumping on a trampoline or rebounder is also a particularly good way to get that lymph moving.

Ashwaganda - Hormone Balancer
From
Kevin Gianni's RenegadeHealth Blog - "Ashwagandha has been shown to
increase the amount of hormones secreted by the thyroid gland.
It’s unknown why this happens, but it has some type of regulating
effect on thyroid hormone secretion."
Ashwaganda is good for adrenal support too, and who doesn't need that in our stress-filled world? The
article continues - "Aside from the thyroid, ashwaganda also is
effective for adrenal support. What this means is, one, that it is a
true adaptogen, since most adaptogens are very good at supporting the
adrenals, and two, it confirms its ability to work with the entire
endocrine/hormone system. Ashwaganda seems to be an effective
endocrine system modulator."
How much should you take?
"When
you take ashwaganda you want to use a high quality extract and – as
per Dr. Williams’ recommendations – take 200-1200 milligrams per day."
Because hormone imbalances are becoming more and more common in our
modern world, due to pesticides, plastics, and hormone supplementation
in livestock, Ashwaganda may be one of the most important herbs we can
take. Our adrenal glands are pushed to their limit by our hectic way of
life, and many people, particularly women, have
thyroid issues. Ashwaganda can help bring these hormones back into
balance in a safe and natural way.
Ashwaganda has been used in India for thousands of years and can be taken long-term without unpleasant side effects.

Healing with Horses
Did
you know that horses are natural healers? A lot of kids know it these
days. Horses are used in numerous programs to help autistic children
and adults, as well as those with emotional or mental problems. But you
don't need to have problems to benefit from hanging out with horses.
They can be amazing teachers for anyone.
One of the most amazing things about horses is their ability to read
and respond to our intentions. When we exhibit clear intention and
strong leadership, horses will willingly fall in line with whatever we
ask them to do, whether we are riding, or walking on the ground with
them.
As Lissa Rankin says in her article titled Lessons Learned About Life & Leadership From a Horse: "When I got into Wordlessness, tapped into Oneness, and got clear on my
intentions for what I wanted the horse to do, the horse followed me
exactly. When I got graspy or panicky or anxious or fuzzy in my
intention, the horse backed away and looked at me like I had two heads."
It's called horse whispering, and if you haven't tried it, I highly
recommend that you look for someone who offers classes and sign up. I
will never forget the first time a horse "joined up" with me. It feels
like being connected with everything around you, and if that is not a
healing experience, I don't know what is.
The reference to "Wordlessness" and "Oneness" is from Martha Beck, author of the wonderful book Finding Your Way in a Wild New World,
describing what she calls the first two technologies of magic. Martha
is one of many horse whispering teachers. You may find classes called Leadership Training with Horses, or some other title, but they are all designed to teach us about ourselves at least as much as how to work with horses.
