Seasons Greetings!
Here we are wrapping up another year on planet
Earth. It has been an amazing year in so many ways, sometimes
challenging, but also wonderful. Wild weather, personal challenges, and
political unrest have been common themes, yet there is an underlying
perfection to it all. More and more people seem to be reaching out to
help each other, and working together to achieve their goals.
There
have been quite a few predictions focused on this month and the end of
this 26,000 year cycle. They range from the ridiculous to the
sublime. Regardless
of what you believe about predictions, it seems that something
unusual is in the works. Exactly what that is remains to be seen.
We
have been
bombarded with speculation ranging from a doomsday film titled 2012
to claims that ETs are going to "rescue" everyone on the
planet and move us all underground. My personal favorite is the
scenario where humanity rapidly awakes to the realization that
everything and everyone is interconnected and we enter a golden age of
peace,
love, and abundance.
What
most of us can agree on is that this is a perfect time for practicing
forgiveness, sharing love, letting go of struggles, connecting deeply
with nature, and respecting all life on
our planet. This is a time to be prepared for anything and everything.
We may see more
natural disasters, bigger financial collapses, increasing personal
challenges, but at the same time (if we look beneath the surface) we
will see that all is well.
May the peace
and love we create in our own hearts be reflected in the world around
us. That has long been the message of this holiday season
as we welcome
the return of the light in whatever tradition we follow.
This month we take a look at ways to improve digestive health, natural
cures for Lyme's disease, Energy Medicine - the medicine of the future
(though it goes back at least five thousand years) - some dangerous
food and drug interactions, and how diet may lead to Alzeheimer's
disease.

Good Digestion

Easier said than done, you may be thinking, but take a look at the list
below and think again.
1) Probiotics.

It
is easy to add probiotics and fermented foods to your diet, and I would
recommend that you do so every day for the rest of your life, whether
you have digestive problems or not. This step alone can heal some of
the worst cases of indigestion or bowel irregularity. You can purchase
probiotics in pill or powder form, or you can grow your own by making
kefir (dairy or coconut water) and yogurt.
Fermented foods such as raw sauerkraut also provide probiotics, along
with vegetable enzymes and alkalinizing minerals. You can easliy make these yourself with all sorts
of vegetables. Aloe vera, zinc and L-glutamine can be tried separately,
while paying attention to how you feel afterward. If they seem to help,
keep taking them until your digestive problems clear up.
As for GMOs, you know how I feel about them if you have been reading
this newsletter for very long. There is way too much evidence pointing
to their dangers. Eating GMO foods is just asking for trouble, because
sooner or later we are going to see similar effects in humans to what
we have seen in
the unfortunate livestock
and lab animals who were forced to live on them.
Wheat gluten has become problematic for many people recently, not
because we have suddenly developed an inability to digest wheat, but
because plant breeders have developed new a breed of wheat that is
nothing like what our ancestors ate. If you have any sort of digestive
disorder, difficulty losing weight, or any type of auto-immune
disorder, try eliminating all wheat products. You may find that it was
all related to wheat consumption.

Can Lyme Be Cured Naturally?
The
medical establishment, when it even acknowledges Lyme, generally
insists that long term use of antibiotics is the only way to
effectively treat this devastating disease. Even then, the fix is often
only temporary. However, there is a
growing body of evidence pointing to a better solution.
Though antibiotics are widely considered the best option to treat
recent cases of Lyme, they fall short when used on chronic and deep
seated cases. Lyme is a complex disease that can go dormant for long
periods of time during which antibiotics seem to have no effect. It can
also create a multitude of different symptoms, affecting one person
differently than another, which makes diagnosis challenging.
Antibiotics are notorious for destroying healthy gut flora, leading to
a multitude of side effects including poor digestion, leaky gut,
constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, allergies, and candida
overgrowth. On the other hand, herbs
(particularly Cats Claw in the concentrated form of Samento), Energy
Medicine, and the Rife machine
have been used to eradicate all traces of Lyme, without upsetting the
delicate balance of intestinal bacteria. Cat's Claw has even
been found to have a beneficial effect on intestinal health!
Here is one case history where Energy Medicine techniques (see next

impressive, though it would probably not surprise any Traditional
Chinese Medicine practitioner. Terms like "meridian," "Tripple Warmer,"
and "Strengthening Spleen" come directly from Chinese medicine, which
is thousands of years older than our Western medical model. Sally also
worked with a medical doctor, but she believes her dramatic healing was
the result of the Energy Medicine techniques she applied daily.
Even if you decide to take antibiotics, or other conventional medical
treatments for Lyme, don't overlook the healing power of these
energy
modalities. They can be safely used with any other form of treatment.
And, speaking
from personal experience, I strongly recommend Samento.
It has been shown to equal or surpass the effectiveness of antibiotic
treatments for chronic Lyme. Start with just a couple of drops a day
and work
up to a full dropper, otherwise the die-off symptoms can be quite
intense!

Is Alzheimer's Type 3 Diabetes?
According
to a recent article on Mercola.com, "Now, a growing body of research
suggests there may be a powerful connection between the foods you eat
and your risk of Alzheimer's disease and dementia, via similar pathways
that cause type 2 diabetes. Some have even re-named Alzheimer's as
'type 3 diabetes.'"
I found this fascinating! All these years we've been told that
Alzeheimer's is a mysterious disease with no known cause, but
everything has a cause, particularly anything that goes awry in our
bodies. So it is not surprising that the causes of type 2 diabetes
would also be found to contribute to Alzeheimer's. We were not designed
to lose our minds as we get older! In fact, most people don't in other
parts of the world.
Mercola's article goes on to say that Alzheimer's disease "is currently
at epidemic proportions, with 5.4 million Americans –
including
one in eight people aged 65 and over – living with the
disease.
By 2050, this is expected to jump to 16 million, and in the next 20
years it is projected that Alzheimer's will affect one in four
Americans." Obviously,
we're doing something very wrong in America!
Here's what you can do to avoid Alzeheimer's according to Dr. Mercola:

- Avoid Fructose (table sugar is half fructose)
- Improve Magnesium Levels (magnesium threonate)
- Optimize your vitamin D levels with safe sun exposure
- Keep your fasting insulin levels below 3
- Vitamin B12
- B vitamins
- Nutritious diet with lots of vegetables
- High-quality omega-3 fats
(BTW - I read that men need more EPA
and women need more DHA)
- Avoid and remove mercury from your body
- Avoid aluminum, such as antiperspirants, non-stick cookware, vaccine
adjuvants
- Exercise regularly
- Avoid flu vaccinations as most contain both mercury and aluminum
- Eat plenty of blueberries
- Challenge your mind daily
- Avoid anticholinergic and statin drugs
I would add, keep: grains (especially wheat), flour products, juices,
and all sugars to a
minimum, and do not load up on protein, because these seem to
contribute to type 2 diabetes. There is also some evidence that eating
raw foods can help to reverse diabetes. The best non-diabetic
grains/seeds for most people are millet, quinoa, amaranth, and
buckwheat.

Some Foods Cause Drug Interactions
If you have to take prescription medications of any kind, please read
this article. Combining the foods below with certain prescription drugs
can
cause dangerous side effects, or can
render your prescription ineffective.
From Care2.com:
Grapefruit
juice - can cause complications when taken with statins
(Lipitor, Mevacor, Zocor), immunosuppressants, calcium-channel blockers
(Plendil, Sular, Procardia), and benzodiazepines (Valium, Triazolam,
Halcion). Grapefruit drinks like Squirt, Fresca, etc. can have the same
effect.
Bananas
- can cause heart palpitations when eaten with ACE inhibitors
(Lotensin, Capoten, Zestril, etc.). Bananas also contain Tyramine, an
amino acid (also found in red wine, soy and certain cheeses) that can
negatively interact with MAO inhibitors (Nardil, Parnate)
Cranberry
juice - may dangerously amplify the effect of Lipitor and
other statin medications, according to recent research.
Spinach and
other leafy greens - contain vitamin K that can nullify the blood-thinning benefits of
anti-coagulants,
including warfarin (Coumadin).
High-fiber
foods - Dietary fiber, as found in whole grains,
vegetables, and fruits, slow the rate at which the stomach empties, and
may also slow the rate at which medications are absorbed into the blood
stream, resulting in lower-than-anticipated blood levels of certain
prescriptions, such as antibiotics.
