Greetings and Happy Celtic New Year!
I feel like celebrating. I have a feeling this year is going to blow
your mind in some way or another. That remains to be seen, but I have a
really good feeling about it and my feelings are usually right. The
world is changing before our eyes, and the health world is no
exception.
One of the most exciting things happening in the health world is energy
medicine. It has been practiced in Asia for thousands of years in the
form of acupuncture, Reiki, and acupressure, but we are finally
beginning to see acceptance of energy medicine in the West. One of the
greatest proponents and teachers of Western style energy medicine is
Donna Eden. Check out her website link in the last article. She is
amazing!
Have you been hearing about astaxanthin yet? If not, you can find out
all about it here. Then you can listen to an excellent audio recording
on natural treatment for fibroid tumors (and why you should avoid
unfermented soy products). Next you will find an introduction to five
Asian foods that can boost your health, and then a report on studies
showing that eliminating sugar and dairy products would be a much more
effective (and safer) alternative to prescription drugs for acne.
Again, gluten is in the news with links to higher mortality rates in
those with sensitivities, which seems to be more and more people by the
day! Fortunately, even ordinary grocery markets are starting to label
gluten free items, and some even have a whole section devoted to gluten
free foods. That makes it much easier to shop.
That's it for this month. Here's wishing you all a very happy holiday
season and a great start to the Celtic New Year.
To Your Health!

Better
than Vitamin E - Internal Sun Screen & Much More
-
Astaxanthin sounds like a pretty awesome supplement. Dr. Mercola says,
"Astaxanthin is now thought to be the most powerful antioxidant found
in nature. It is one of the most amazing supplements I have ever
learned about. The only one that exceeds it in importance to be taking
every day, from my perspective, is vitamin D."
That is a pretty strong recommendation. Personally, I have not tried it
yet, so I can't speak from experience, but it definitely has perked my
interest. In addition to protecting the skin from sun damage, it is a
powerful anti-inflammatory, and contributes to eye and brain health.
But what is it?
From mercola.com - "Astaxanthin is a derivative of the microalgae
Haematoccous pluvialis (it's the part that gives salmon and flamingos
that eat the algae their orange or pink coloring).
"It is produced when the algae's water supply dries up, forcing it to
protect itself from ultraviolet radiation. It's the algae's survival
mechanism—Astaxanthin serves as a "force field" to protect
the algae from lack of nutrition and/or intense sunlight. "

Healing
Fibroid Tumors the Natural Way
-
From bewellbuzz.com - "A uterine fibroid is a non-cancerous (benign)
tumor that originates from the smooth muscle layer (myometrium) and the
accompanying connective tissue of the uterus. Fibroids are the most
common benign tumors in females and typically found during the middle
and later reproductive years."
If you've got them, you will want to listen to this recording to find
out how to heal yourself. If you don't have them, listen anyway. What
you learn may save you or a woman you love from needless misery.
This audio recording covers:
What are fibroid tumors?
What causes fibroid tumors?
A walk thru of a healthy woman’s monthly cycle
What causes estrogen dominance?
Xenoestrogens
Dangers of Soy
4 Steps to reversing the condition naturally

Asian Superfoods
-
Unless you happen to be Japanese, you may not have heard of some of
these foods, but you might want to add them to your diet. Personally, I
love shitake mushrooms, arame, and daikons. Even if you don't like
radishes (like me), you may find that daikons are so mild that you can
actually enjoy them. I spin them in my spiralizer to make thin
"noodles" for salads or soups. Yummy!
Loosely quoted from drhyman.com -
Konjac Fiber: Expands in the stomach and the small and large intestine,
it absorbs fat, accelerates elimination, reduces cholesterol, blunts
sugar absorption and facilitates weight loss, in part by increasing
feelings of satiety. You have it as jelly or noodles called shirataki.
Arame Sea Vegetable: Rich in minerals calcium, iron, zinc, manganese,
folate, vitamins A & K, and iodine. It also boosts immunity and
helps bind toxins in your body. Some even say it helps boost sex drive.
Shitake Mushrooms: Boost immunity through special polysaccharide
molecules and can help prevent cancer. They are also full of minerals,
especially iron, and they appear to decrease binding of immune cells to
your arterial wall preventing atherosclerosis.
Daikon Radish: Contains digestive enzymes that help you break down
food, and they contain myrosinase that boosts detoxification of
environmental chemicals. Daikon is high in vitamin C and folate.
Umeboshi Plums: Japanese pickled plums have remarkable medicinal
qualities. Their acidity has a paradoxical alkalinizing effect on the
body, helping with fatigue, enhancing digestion, and boosting the
elimination of toxins. This is the Far Eastern equivalent to both
aspirin and apples; it is a great hangover remedy for mornings after;
and an umeboshi a day is considered one of the best preventive
medicines around.

Got
Acne? - The Milk and Sugar Connection
-
The results are in, dairy and sugar are the biggest culprits in teenage
acne breakouts. The question is whether kids will be willing to give up
the junk food.
From drhyman.com - "Many have suggested a diet-acne link, but until
recently it has not been proven in large clinical studies. Instead
dermatologists prescribe long-term antibiotics and Accutane, both of
which may cause long-term harmful effects. In 2009, a systematic review
of 21 observational studies and six clinical trials found clear links.
Two large controlled trials found that cow’s milk increased
both the number of people who got acne and its severity. Other large
randomized prospective controlled trials (the gold standard of medical
research) found that people who had higher sugar intake and a high
glycemic load diet (more bread, rice, cereal, pasta, sugar, and flour
products of all kinds) had significantly more acne. The good news is
that chocolate (dark chocolate that is) didn’t seem to cause
acne."

Gluten
Can Kill - Why You May Want to Avoid It
-
More and more people are realizing that something they are eating is
making them either mildly or severely sick or allergic. For a long time
it was a mystery for many people, but recent studies are showing that
gluten is very often the culprit. If you have inflammation symptoms,
chronic bowel problems, or any sort of auto-immune disease, it is very
likely that you suffer from gluten sensitivity. Our modern grains have
been bred to contain more gluten than the grains our ancestors ate. For
many people it is just too much gluten for their digestive system to
handle. Aside from annoying symptoms, this can actually lead to
premature death!
From drhyman.com - "A recent large study in the Journal of the American
Medical Association found that people with diagnosed, undiagnosed, and
“latent” celiac disease or gluten sensitivity had a
higher risk of death, mostly from heart disease and cancer. (i)
"This study looked at almost 30,000 patients from 1969 to 2008 and
examined deaths in three groups: Those with full-blown celiac disease,
those with inflammation of their intestine but not full-blown celiac
disease, and those with latent celiac disease or gluten sensitivity
(elevated gluten antibodies but negative intestinal biopsy).
"The findings were dramatic. There was a 39 percent increased risk of
death in those with celiac disease, 72 percent increased risk in those
with gut inflammation related to gluten, and 35 percent increased risk
in those with gluten sensitivity but no celiac disease.
"This is ground-breaking research that proves you don’t have
to have full-blown celiac disease with a positive intestinal biopsy
(which is what conventional thinking tells us) to have serious health
problems and complications–even death–from eating
gluten."

Thumbs Up for Donna Eden and Energy
Medicine
-
Donna Eden is an amazing woman with overflowing enthusiasm for life.
Now in her 60s, she has the energy of a youngster, but it wasn't always
that way. At one time she was very sick with multiple sclerosis,
asthma, heart disease, and allergies, but she learned how to heal
herself with energy medicine.
Check out her website, especially the short video on her home page, and
you will get a sense for what she has to offer. Sometimes disease is
nothing more than an energy block or imbalance that can be healed with
simple and easy techniques. If Donna Eden could cure such serious
diseases as MS and heart disease with her energy medicine techniques,
imagine what you can do.
She is the author of several books and DVDs that can get you started on
the path of energy healing. Just think of how much you could save on
doctor bills!
