Message
from Bernadette Wulf
-
Greetings!
From frogs to salamanders! Imagine being able to "tell" your DNA to
change. That's what Russian scientists were experimenting with when
they discovered they could influence the growth of a frog tadpole to
turn into a salamander instead of a frog! Be sure to click on the link
under the first article to read it entirely. It will blow your mind!
I had been thinking, even before reading the DNA article, that I
want to focus more on positive articles. After reading it, I'm even
more convinced that negative information reinforces the negative
thinking that permeates our society - and our DNA. Unless it is
something we can change or avoid, it is probably better not to mention
it at all. (So much for newspapers!)
Sure, there are all sorts of studies showing that this or that is
"bad" for you, but much of what makes something bad is our belief that
it is bad. For example, there is a belief in North Korea that you will
die if you sleep with a fan on, and in fact people DO die from it,
because they believe they will! How much of our own health-care
information is like that? Probably a lot.
I've also been thinking about how we can bring our nutrition and
health care closer to home. Rather than seeking out exotic super foods
that have to be imported from all over the world, why not look at what
we can grow right in our own backyard, like hemp seeds (once we can
grow hemp legally). At least we can get it from our close neighbor,
Canada.
Why not whip up our own pure and natural cosmetics from local
ingredients, instead of adding to the billions of dollars the cosmetic
company CEOs put in their pockets? It takes lots of little things like
these to make the shift to a sustainable economy and a sustainable
lifestyle.
I suppose this idea really clicked for me when I took a "plant
spirit communication" class and learned that South American shamans
laugh at our idea of herbology. They say it is the relationship with
the individual plant that brings about healing, so you can't generalize
to say peppermint is good for this and gooseberries are good for that.
That got me thinking about relationships. What kind of relationship
do I have with the plants that contribute to my shampoo - or my dinner
for that matter? Usually not much, and I don't think I am unusual in
that way.
It seems to me that this disconnection we have with the plants and
animals that contribute so much to our lives could be at the root of so
many of the problems facing our world today. Deep appreciation for what
is right here in our own backyard, could be the key to our sustainable
future.

Talk
to Your DNA!
-
Be sure to click the link below this article. It is one of my
favorite articles ever, because it shows so much promise for developing
human potential. One sentence from the article pretty much says it all
- "Esoteric and spiritual teachers have known for ages that our body is
programmable by language, words and thought. This has now been
scientifically proven and explained."
Did you know that your DNA is the source of language, and that it
is listening to every thought you think and every word you speak?
Imagine telling your body how much you want to weigh, or how long you
want to live, or how far you want to be able to run. You are doing it
constantly, whether you realize it or not. Every time you think "I'm
too fat," or "I don't feel good," you give your DNA a pattern to match,
and it will follow your direction.
I heard recently that the average person has over 70% negative
thoughts! Can you imagine how that affects your DNA as it "listens" for
your instructions on how to form your body?
And there's more. Our DNA also has the potential of connecting us
with others and our environment. Russian scientists seem to be at the
forefront of these studies, but we also have organizations here in the
USA that are doing similar research, like HeartMath in Boulder Creek,
CA.
This information is so revolutionary that I expect it will one day
replace all drugs and surgery. We will simply use language codes to
heal anything that goes wrong with our bodies - and even our
environment. It may sound crazy, but after you read the article you may
start wondering if such a thing could be possible.

Hemp
for Health
-
If you have never tasted hemp seeds, you might want to give them a
try. Not only do they have a delightful, mild, nutty flavor, they are
packed with nutrition.
According to globalhemp.com, "Hemp seeds contain all the essential
amino acids and essential fatty acids necessary to maintain healthy
human life. No other single plant source provides complete protein in
such an easily digestible form, nor has the oils essential to life in
as perfect a ratio for human health and vitality.
"Hempseed is the highest of any plant in essential fatty acids.
Hempseed oil is among the lowest in saturated fats at 8% of total oil
volume. The oil pressed from hempseed contains 55% linoleic acid (LA)
and 25% linolenic acid (LNA). Only flax oil has more linolenic acid at
58%, but hempseed oil is the highest in total essential fatty acids at
80% of total oil volume."
That is pretty impressive! Not only that, the hemp plant is easy to
grow, requires no pesticides, provides excellent quality fiber, and can
be used to make paper and building materials, thereby saving trees.
This is a plant that could be an economic stimulus package all on its
own!
Try sprinkling the raw seeds on cereal, or vegetables, or make a
delicious Middle Eastern tabouli by substituting hemp seeds for bulgar
wheat in any recipe. Be sure to use lots of parsley. That is the key to
making good tabouli.

Do
It Yourself Cosmetics - Guys too!
-
Have you ever thought of making your own cosmetics? I find it fun.
In my Naturopathic Doctor course, I had to make a beeswax salve. It was
surprisingly easy, so I started making other things like lip balm,
facial toner, and lotions. Now I'm hooked. I like to mix in Bach flower
remedies and essential oils for their unique healing qualities.
Not only will the do-it-yourself approach save you a lot of money,
it will also insure that your cosmetics are made with pure, natural
ingredients that are good for your skin, and the rest of you, too.
These days there are dozens of nasty chemicals added to body care
products, and they don't even have to be listed on the label. Your skin
can absorb what you put on it, so why not feed it the best?
If you want to use beeswax, I recommend getting a mini-crock pot
that you only use for beeswax. You can get pure beeswax at most art or
craft stores. Just put a chunk of wax in the crock pot, plug it in and
you'll soon have melted beeswax for any use - even making encaustic
collages (which I sometimes do when I'm wearing my artist hat). The wax
will solidify after you unplug the crock pot. You can just leave it in
there until you are ready to start another project.
Click the link below to find recipes for lip balm, shaving cream,
shampoo, and more. By the way, if anyone has a recipe for a good hair
conditioner, I would love to try it! I haven't found one yet.

Mineral
Rich Kelp Noodles
-
The latest rage in raw food circles may be just what you are
looking for, even if you aren't interested in raw foods. If you like
pasta, Kelp Noodles make a great substitute, especially if you want to
lose weight! And you don't even need to cook them.
From therawfoodworld.com site - "...Kelp Noodles are fat-free,
gluten-free, and very low in carbohydrates and calories. Their noodle
form and neutral taste allow for a variety of uses including salads,
stir-fries, hot broths, and casseroles, while their healthful content
provides a rich source of trace minerals including iodine..."
The ocean has the perfect balance of minerals for the human body,
but many people don't like the taste or texture of seaweed. Here is the
perfect solution! Kelp noodles are mild flavored, with a texture like
pasta. Just pour on spagetti sauce or pesto and you have a delicious,
nutritious meal.
