A
Message from Bernadette Wulf
Greetings!
Hurray! Our comments stopped the FDA from adopting more restrictive
laws on health-care products.Good work! Now they are trying to make it
legal to fumigate "raw, organic" almonds with toxic chemicals. Gotta
keep
our eyes on them!
It is starting to feel like Summer! The long days have been quite warm
here in Sonoma County. That means it's a good time to replenish your
supply
of Vitamin D that tends to become depleted over the winter months.
Getting
outside for at least fifteen minutes a day, preferably in morning or
late
afternoon when the sun is not so intense, will give you all the Vitamin
D
you need, as well as other health benefits.
Vitamin D is made when the sun shines on oils in your skin. Wearing
light clothing, particularly white or pink tones, will allow enough sun
to
reach your skin, even if you wear long sleeves. And, just in case you
were
wondering, taking Vitamin D in supplement form just doesn't have the
same
health value.
Of course, you'll want to take a swim on the really hot summer days
coming up. That means wearing a bathing suit, which can be a scary
thought
to many of us, particularly as we move up in years. EFT comes to the
rescue
again. Weight loss is one area where EFT excels.
It is also a good time to take a look at what's in that sun screen you
are slathering all over your skin. I'm sure you've heard that some
sunscreens have so many toxic chemicals in them that they do more harm
than good. And now we have to be concerned about nanoparticles, too!
Which
ones are safe? Read on.
It's always a good time to boost your antioxidant levels with tasty
foods like Goji Berries. Perhaps an acquired taste, but they seem to
get
better the more I eat them. And last but by no means least, we'll take
a
look at the humble cinnamon that you probably already have in your
kitchen. In this sugar-saturated society (how's that for an
alliteration?), cinnamon is one helpful herbal healer. Read on to find
out
why.

Safe
Sunscreens - Non-Nano
What's
a Nano? It is basically a very, very small
particle. Because they are so small, they are added to sunscreens to
block
the sun without leaving that telltale, white residue so often seen on
the
noses of lifeguards. The problem is that such small particles can
actually
go right through your skin into your bloodstream! That cannot be a good
thing.
According to The Green Guide - "Nanoparticles are unpredictable
because their small size and high ratio of surface area to volume can
produce chemical or physical properties that are very different from
their
larger counterparts. For instance, once TiO2 nanoparticles enter the
bloodstream, they are at risk of infiltrating the brain where they can
damage cells, whereas larger micron-sized (millionths of a meter)
particles of TiO2 are blocked by the blood-brain barrier, which
protects
the brain from harmful substances in the bloodstream."
Yikes! Fact is, nanoparticles haven't been around long enough for us
to really know what they will do. My advice is "better safe than
sorry."
Nanoparticles just aren't natural, and if nature didn't design them,
they
probably are not good for us.
Now, in addition to having to avoid the toxic, carcinogenic chemicals
in so many sunscreens, we also have to look out for nanoparticals.
Sounds
like a lot of work, but the Green Guide has made it easy for us. In the
list below are some of their Nano-Free Suggestions. (Click on link at
bottom of page for my personal sunscreen favorites by Mychelle and Dr.
Hauschka.)
Green Guide List: "To avoid confusion, we have only included products
containing TiO2 and ZO in micron-sized particles (1 micron or larger)
or
nano-sized particles larger than 100 nm, which are too large to
penetrate
the deepest skin layers. These are also free of The Green Guide's Dirty
Dozen chemicals:

EFT
for Weight Loss
Now
that bathing-suit weather is upon us, the
pressure to lose a few pounds is mounting for many of us. Here's
another
area where EFT can work wonders. The EFT motto is "Try it on
everything!"
EFT has been very effective in clearing the underlying causes of weight
gain, including the impulse to overeat, resistance to exercise,
attraction
to junk food, and self-esteem issues related to body and appearance.
If you have tried dieting and/or exercise, but can't seem to lose
weight, it's time to look at the emotional factors involved. If you
lose
weight and then gain back as much or more than you lost, you probably
have
subconscious factors at work. No matter how strongly you consciously
try to
lose weight, your subconscious is always more powerful. It keeps
holding on
to those extra pounds.
The solution is to get to the underlying cause and clear it. EFT is
the most valuable tool I have found to quickly and permanently clear
your
subconscious blocks, limiting beliefs, and food cravings. Try it on
your
own if you like. You'll find instructions on my website at
http://www.healitall.com/eft.html - I've also added a cool new EFT
video.
I think you'll find it inspiring. Try "tapping" on your ideal weight.
Gary
Craig, the founder of EFT got down to his ideal weight just by doing
that.
If you prefer working with a practitioner, I'm available for private
sessions in person or over the phone.

Amazing
Goji Berry - Almost Too Good to Be
True!
I've
really been enjoying Goji Berries lately just
because of their unique flavor, and now I come to find out that they
have
amazing health benefits as well. Here's what Smart Publications has to
say
about them:
"Goji berry may provide anti-aging, immune-stimulating, glucose
regulatory, and liver protective effects.
"Goji berry has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for
thousands of years as a health tonic to promote overall health and
healthy
eyesight, strengthen the immune system, protect the liver, improve
circulation and sperm production, and to enhance sexual performance. It
has also been used as a remedy for diabetes, anemia, tinnitus, and lung
diseases.
"In TCM terms, goji berries are sweet in taste and neutral in nature,
they act on the liver, lung, and kidney channels and enhance "chi" or
life
force."
All that in a little berry! And there's even more. Click on link below
to get the whole report.

Cinnamon
the Awesome Blood Sugar
Regulator
Speaking
of regulating glucose (in the above
article), I was reminded of cinnamon. Isn't it interesting that we tend
to
like cinnamon on our toast, sweet rolls, and apple pie, all of which
tend
to send blood glucose skyrocketing. We naturally crave the herbal
remedy
that will help regulate our blood sugar. Nature is so amazing!
And that's not all cinnamon does. It supports healthy blood sugar
levels, blood lipids, and blood pressure. Again, Smart Publications has
something to say:
"Today cinnamon is widely used in Ayurvedic medicine (traditional
Indian medicine) to treat diabetes in India. And recently Richard
Anderson
and his team at the US Department of Agriculture's Human Nutrition
Research
Center in Beltsville, Maryland, discovered the scientific evidence that
demonstrates how cinnamon serves as an important antioxidant, and is
beneficial in the prevention and control of glucose intolerance and
diabetes. 2
"How does cinnamon work?
Data from the Agricultural Research Unit in Maryland was first
published in the New Scientist in August 2000. The researchers found
that
cinnamon triggered the ability of fat cells in diabetic individuals to
respond to insulin, and it also enhanced the removal of glucose."
