Animal's harvestMessage from Bernadette Wulf

Greetings,

Tis the season to be thankful. Here’s a picture of what I imagine my garden looks like after dark. Strange things happen out there and the animals find lots to feast on. LOL

Even so, I don’t begrudge them some of my produce as long as they leave some for me.

I am thankful for the amazing abundance in my life and I wish you all abundant blessings and a very happy Thanksgiving season.

Good News!

My Arthurian Magic Tarot DeckMy Arthurian Magic Tarot Deck will be available on Deckible.com very soon. Deckible is an online app for digital card readings on your phone. I’ll be sending out an announcement about that when I get the word.

If you are interested in a physical printed deck, I’ll also be pre-selling those as soon as I get the printing and shipping costs figured out. Stay tuned!

My intention in creating this deck was to make it the most beautiful and easiest to use tarot deck for beginners and experienced card readers alike. The images are beautiful and uplifting and the interpretations align with classic tarot decks, with the added element of Arthurian faery lore woven in.

I love it and I hope you will too!

Fat on the brain?Healing Nerve Pain

Nerves can be delicate and sensitive as they respond to so many types of stimuli, causing pain and even emotional discomfort. The good news is that there are lots of ways to soothe them.

Here are some great tips from Medical Medium protocols posted by sweetsurrenderhealing:

When the nerves are hot, minerals are your best friend to cool them down. Think leafy greens in abundance. Spinach soup, although not everyone’s favorite, is a powerful tool to cool down the nervous system because those minerals get to the nerves quickly. I also like cucumber juice and an extra celery juice in the afternoon when flaring to really calm things down. Red clover tea is full of minerals, too. The nerve shifter shot is ideal for any onset of a neurological symptom, if you take this one right away it can be tremendous in calming a fired up system.

magnesium and vitamin C for bone healthBone Health

Did you know that it is perfectly natural for women to lose bone mass after menopause? That’s because the body no longer needs the extra minerals stored in bones to support a pregnancy. So well-meaning doctors may be doing more harm than good by prescribing their osteoporosis meds.

That being said, osteoporosis can become a serious problem that is usually caused by eating too much protein, an acid-forming diet, and/or getting too much phosphorus in the diet (all of which are issues in a diet high in animal products, including dairy).

Here are some other risk factors from the foodrevolution blog:

There are also some lifestyle factors we do have control over that can contribute to osteoporosis risk. Smoking, leading an inactive lifestyle, being under or overweight, drinking excessive alcohol, not eating enough fruits and veggies, and eating large amounts of protein and sodium, as well as not getting enough calcium, vitamin D, magnesium, or vitamin B12, can all raise your risk for osteoporosis.

Catch up on newsletter archivesMulti-tasking Can Undermine Your Ability to Concentrate

Guilty as charged! At any given time, I may have 50 or 60 tabs open on my computer desktop and I jump from one project to another rather routinely. That’s why my newsletter is coming out a day late this month.

I never thought of it as a bad thing until I read this article from zonia.com:

The study discovered that multi-tasking makes it difficult to separate individual elements in the mind. People who multi-task are always drawing information from what’s directly in front of them, regardless of whether or not it’s relevant. Thus, they potentially damage their own concentration—not just in the short term, but in the long term—by reducing their ability to ignore distractions around them.

It’s not that I can’t turn off the distractions and focus on one thing, but I have to make a conscious effort to do that.

I’ve heard that this is mostly an issue for women, because men’s brains tend to focus on one thing at a time, but that’s opening a big can of worms and I don’t want to go there right now. What I do want to focus on is a reminder to set clear intentions and remove distractions when trying to get things done.

That may be impossible if you are a busy mom juggling responsibilities of home and office, especially if the office is in your home! Even so, just setting an intention to carve out a half hour to focus on one thing can be a huge step forward.

I think I will make that my new year’s resolution for the Celtic New Year that started yesterday on November 1st. How about you?

Oranges are a good source of calciumVitamin C & Cancer Risk

Vitamin C seems to help with just about every health issue, from knocking out viruses to preventing cancer. Not surprising, since we are related to the great apes who live on raw fruits and leafy greens that are rich in Vitamin C. Though we have evolved in a different direction from the apes, we still need plenty of Vitamin C in our diets, just as they do.

Regarding cancer prevention, this study from thetruthaboutcancer.com shows a strong correlation between Vitamin C levels and cancer risk, particularly in stomach and colon cancers:

Specifically, vitamin C is believed to block the formation of carcinogenic N-nitroso compounds in the stomach. While higher dietary vitamin C has been linked to a lower risk of stomach cancer in numerous studies, it’s not yet clear how vitamin C intake via diet relates to blood levels when it comes to stomach cancer risk. [ ]

Interestingly, subjects with the highest blood levels of vitamin C were at a significantly lower risk relative to those with the lowest blood levels. This so-called “inverse association” was seen more clearly in subjects who regularly consumed red and processed meats, which is likely to increase production of carcinogenic N-nitroso compounds in the body.

Vitamin C is one of the few supplements I take just about every day (along with zinc sulfate, magnesium glycinate and Vitamin B12 — all from Vimergy). My favorite brand of Vitamin C is Vimergy Micro-C.
