Message from Bernadette Wulf
Greetings,
Harvest season is in full swing here in Sonoma County CA. My little garden has a lush crop of basil ready for our Labor Day family pesto feed. Yum!
My Big News
It looks like this is finally the month when I get my novel, House of Mirrors, published on Amazon. Just a few little loose ends to tie up. Woo hoo!
After almost four decades of messing around with it, that’s a big milestone for me!
I’ve been getting excellent feedback from my beta readers, and so far people have been loving it. I’ll let you know when the launch date arrives.
Other than that, I’ve been updating my art website with lots of graphic design examples. I am especially delighted to offer creative brand photography at a big savings to you, because I can create just about any image you can imagine, featuring your own face, with the help of AI tools.
So much simpler and less expensive than going on location with lots of props and costumes! Check it out here: https://www.wulfworks.net/ai-brand-photography/ I don’t even need a camera!
This Month
We have a reminder about the importance of taking a vitamin B12 supplement whether you eat animal products or not. You’ll learn all about the benefits of burdock root for your liver, how to lower your Lp(a) to help prevent heart disease, and the truth about eating extra protein for strong muscles — spoiler: it doesn’t help and only puts a bigger burden on your kidneys!
Until next time, I hope these tips will help you take good care of yourself and your loved ones. See you in October… if not before.

The Most Important Vitamin Supplement?
If you are vegetarian or vegan, you’ve probably been advised to take a vitamin B12 supplement, but omnivores and meat eaters are often just as deficient in this essential vitamin. That’s because our modern food system is so sanitary!
Sanitation is a good thing, since it prevents widespread contamination with bugs like e. coli and salmonella — but, since B12 is created by bacteria, our sanitary lifestyle has also led to low B12 levels in most people who don’t take a supplement.
Sure, you can get some B12 from animal products, as long as the animals have healthy gut bacteria to create the B12, but most farmed animals are regularly treated with antibiotics that destroy those bacteria.
Whether you are vegan, vegetarian, carnivore or omnivore, taking a quality B12 supplement is highly recommended, especially if you are over 60. It’s a water-soluble vitamin, so any excess will simply be expelled in your urine. That makes it very safe to take as a supplement.
The best brands I’ve found are Vimergy B12 and Global Healing Center B12 — you only need a few drops a day.
Here are some of the benefits of Vitamin B12, from foodrevolution.org:
1. Helps fight depression.
2. Protects against cardiovascular disease.
3. Protects against eye disease and disorders.
4. Protects against neural tube defects in pregnancy.
5. Helps with red blood cell formation.
6. Has a protective effect on DNA.

Burdock for Liver Health
By now, if you’ve been paying attention to health news at all, you’ve probably heard about the rising rates of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
It is mostly caused by the proliferation of modern junk food, environmental toxins and high-fat diets that overtax the liver’s ability to filter out waste.
Aside from avoiding toxins and cleaning up your diet, adding burdock root can give your liver the helpful boost it needs. You can eat it fresh in a stir fry or buy it powdered and add it to just about any meal. The taste is mild, earthy and a bit nutty.
Note: It is easy to grow, but it can become an invasive weed with sharp burrs!
From naturalhealth365:
Many researchers believe that burdock root’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory qualities can help delay the progression of NAFLD. Also helpful is burdock root’s ability to increase the production of glutathione, an important antioxidant and detoxifier produced in the liver. Clearly, burdock root has the potential to be a helpful ally against NAFLD, and preliminary research has highlighted therapeutic effects.

Lower Lp(a) for a Healthy Heart
Frankly, I didn’t know what Lp(a) was until I read this article. Here’s how Dr. Greger from nutritionfacts.org explains it:
Lipoprotein A, also known as Lp(a), is an independent, genetic, and causal factor for cardiovascular disease and heart attacks. At any level of LDL cholesterol, our risk of heart attack and stroke is two-to three-fold higher when our Lp(a) is elevated. With a high enough Lp(a) level, atherosclerosis continues to progress even if we get our LDL cholesterol way down, which may help explain why so many people continue to have heart attacks and strokes even under treatment for high cholesterol.
The good news is that there is an easy, drug-free way to lower Lp(a). I bet you guessed it!
[ ] when study participants were put on a whole food, plant-based diet packed with a dozen servings of fruits and vegetables a day, their Lp(a) levels dropped by 16 percent within four weeks.
Just another reason to kick the animal products to the curb and focus on healthy whole plant foods!

Does Extra Protein Improve Muscle Mass?
Protein, protein, protein! We are constantly bombarded with media claims about our need for more protein, but what’s the truth?
Dr. Greger has weeded out the facts from the hype and guess what — any more than our basic protein requirement (easily met on any whole plant foods diet) has no benefit for building muscle!
So give your kidneys a break and cut out the protein shakes, cheeseburgers and steaks. Stick to eating a variety of whole fruits, vegetables, grains and beans with few nuts and seeds and you will easily get all the protein you need.

New Earth Ambassador — Sharing Health, Wealth & Faery Magic to Uplift the World!
What I love best is creating opportunities for people to tap into the New Earth reality — a reality of harmony, cooperation and prosperity for all. I call it the New Camelot!
I still recall the thrill of discovering how to break through the confusion and angst of struggling in the old 3D Matrix. That’s when I realized I had found something far more valuable than money or worldly “success.”
So now I spend my time creating courses, blogs and tools to support citizens of the New Camelot in their ongoing quest for vital health, abundant wealth and the magic of the faery realm (which is woven into the fabric of the New Camelot like silver threads of wonder).
I am also passionate about protecting Nature, educating people about a healthy whole plant foods diet, artistic creativity, graphic design, connecting seekers with the faery realm, Celtic and Arthurian lore, writing, painting and gardening.
